STEM Premier Top 100 Spotlight: Sydney Bertram

Earlier this month, we were proud to unveil the 2016 STEM Premier Top 100 students.

Hailing from all across the nation, the students of the Top 100 represent a wide variety of STEM talent, skills, and backgrounds. We wanted to get to know these students better and showcase the personalities behind the STEM Premier platform!

Our next spotlight is on Sydney, a hiking enthusiast with her eyes set on the medical profession. Though she resides outside of Columbia, South Carolina, her college interests span the length of the eastern seaboard, from Clemson University up to Columbia University in New York City.

Whether it’s at the summit of Mt. Mitchell in North Carolina or on the school’s honor roll list, this STEM Premier Top 100 student has earned her spot at the top!

Sydney Bertram

High School: Spring Hill High School (SC)

Class year: Junior

For fun, I like to... go hiking.  If  possible I head up to the mountains for a day on the trails, but there's also some good trails near my house.

If I could meet anyone in the world, past or present, I would want to meet...Emma Watson. She is definitely a role model of mine; I'd love to meet her and talk and get to know what she's really like.

The best teacher I’ve ever had was/is...I honestly can't decide on this one. I've been really lucky to have great teachers throughout my education! I really admire my middle school teachers for putting up with me during my super crazy awkward years- that's impressive.

The last app I downloaded on my phone was...Dreamdays 365. It's just a daily countdown app because I've got some really cool vacations coming up this summer that I can't wait for!

Something you wouldn't know about me is...I keep my life pretty organized, but my room is a mess! Some days you literally can't see the floor.

After high school, my next step is... going to college. I don't know exactly what I want to major in yet, but I plan to do a pre-med track.

In ten years, I see myself...If all goes as planned and God doesn't totally change the course I've set out for myself, I guess I'll be in the midst of my first year of medical residency!

My greatest dream is...I don't really have a great big dream of something that I want to achieve in my life. There's too much that I want to accomplish to fit it in a few sentences.

The thing I like about STEM Premier most is...that it's helping me keep track of everything I need for my college applications. It'll be great to already have everything in one place, so I won't have to go searching around for it when this coming September rolls around.

Good luck Sydney! We know you'll do great with whatever you set your mind to. We’re proud to have you be a STEM Premier user and part of the 2016 STEM Premier Top 100.
